AN EXPLANATION ON WHY WE USE HERBS

Herbs are added along with the vitamins for specific help in addressing the particular problems you may be having. Herbs are simple plants that God put on the earth, that grow all on their own for the sake of man and animal. The focus of modern herbology has been to eliminate toxins from the various organ systems of the body, thus allowing the body to better heal itself. This process is accomplished by the use of herbs that stimulate the purging mechanism of a particular system. These herbs promote evacuation of the bowel, diuresis, emesis, diaphoresis and expectorant effects that result in the removal of toxins from all body systems. Once these toxic substances are eliminated from the body, herbalists use astringent, mucilaginous and nutritive herbs to revitalize body systems by soothing, tightening and strengthening inflamed and flaccid tissues. Herbs can also affect the circulatory, urinary, respiratory, skeletal and nervous systems. Organs of the body such as the liver, kidneys, stomach, thyroid and heart are also targeted specifically by combinations of herbs. Herbs are used as nutrition for the body, to help the body heal itself.

The doctor, by reason of medical education, has been taught to prescribe the drug cholestyramine to help a patient lower his cholesterol level. On the other hand, an herbalist may use garlic to do the same thing. A 10- year study on the effects of cholestyramine in over 3,000 men and several studies on the effects of garlic in man and animals, have shown that both substances reduce serum cholesterol to almost exactly the same extent. The cholestyramine was so unpleasant to use and had a variety of side effects that fully 27% of the men refused to take it and dropped out of the study. The side effects of garlic, on the other hand, include resistance to infections and fevers, reduced blood pressure (if it was high) and stronger heart and cardiac health. If a drug is given for a certain problem, it usually has a side effect that creates other problems. Then a different drug may be prescribed for the new problems. Eventually the patient is full of inorganic substances which the body does not know how to handle. Chemical medicines have proved to have very harmful side effects

ORGANIC VS. INORGANIC

According to the Webster Dictionary, the word inorganic is described as: Not organic; not endowed with, or subject to, organization; devoid of an organized structure, or the structure of a living being; unorganized; as rocks, minerals and all non-living chemical compounds and elements are inorganic.

The word organic is described by the same authority as: pertaining to an organ or its functions; consisting of organs or containing them; as the organic structure of the human body or of plants.

Let's examine the difference. For example, oxalic acid does not occur by itself in nature, but is found in combination with sodium, potassium, calcium, iron and manganese in the juices of many plants, such as rhubarb, sorrel, oak bark, yellow dock, etc.

The drug companies prepare oxalic acid artificially by oxidizing sugar and starch with nitric acid and in this form it is one of the most powerful escharotic poisons known. One dram will quickly prove fatal by destroying the organic structure of any tissue it comes in contact with, eating away tissues of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, duodenum and finally perforating the peritoneum. In approximately 30 minutes after swallowing and after a great deal of pain, the person will die.

The very same acid in the form of iron, potassium, calcium, or sodium oxalates, as found in rhubarb, sorrel leaves, etc. is quite harmless. These herbs are eaten in great quantities by both animal and man with no harm.

Several of the best herbs are members of this family of plants, such as yellow dock. All contain iron and each and every one contains oxalates from 2% to 40%.

Another example is inorganic sulfur, which is usually given in the form of powder, called flowers of sulfur. In this form, it will circulate through the system with the greater part of it thrown out through the pores of the skin unchanged and not assimilated by the cells, but rejected. Mineral sulfur attaches itself to iron causing destruction of ferments and enzymes and generates sulfurous and sulfuric acids within the human body.

Strawberries contain acetone, acetaldehyde, methyl burrate, ethyl coproate, hexyl acetate, methanol, acrolein and croton aldehyde, all toxic and highly poisonous substances. Yet when in the combination and in the natural and organic form, they are highly nutritive. Only when we try to match nature and separate these substances and make them inorganic, do we get in trouble.

Hopefully, now you understand the difference between an inorganic drug and an organic herb so when people say "Herbs are drugs," or, "they are the same," you will know they are different.

Every disease known to man is primarily a condition of unbalanced constituents of both elements and compounds which compose the tissues and fluids of the whole body. The study of these elements and compounds is called biochemistry (the chemistry of life). With biochemistry we attempt to determine which elements and compounds are depleted in the body of the ailing person. Then we match the proper herb which has that element or compound present in an organic form in order to replenish and restore that element or compound.

Our Creator made sure these elements and compounds were readily available to us in the organic form of the herbs and plants growing wild throughout all of our forests. All we have to do is believe. If you don?t believe the scientific findings, then believe the Scriptures and the many people who have achieved perfect health by using herbs since the beginning of time.

The very breath of life is given to us by the plants which some do not believe in or understand. The only breathable oxygen is produced by nature from the leaves or lungs of plants and given off to the atmosphere in abundance.

HOW MUCH DO I TAKE?

For adults normally 1 dropper full daily of an extract is recommended for mild cases of a problem. (A dropper full is when the dropper is squeezed and it comes up 3/4 th's of the way). If there is an ongoing chronic condition of the body, 1 dropper full 2 - 3 times a day would be recommended, depending on the severity of the problem. Extracts may be taken under the tongue, hold one minute, then swallow. This is a sublingual delivery system, which helps the content to get in the bloodstream faster. They may also be taken in juice or water.

Unless otherwise noted, all doses in this manual are for adults. For children, divide the child's weight (in pounds) by 150 to get the approximate fraction of the adult dose to give to the child. For example: for a 50 pound child give 50/150 (or 1/3) of the adult dose. If the adult dose is 1 dropper full taken 1 - 3 times per day, the child's dose will be 1/3 dropper full taken 1 - 3 times per day
